The Endless Possibilities of Spray Foam Insulation

Posted by sprayfoaminsulation on May 29, 2008

Whoa! Did you have any idea how many uses there are for spray foam insulation? Did you know how easy it is to apply spray foam insulation? I am not a construction expert but I have learned a lot of what this spray can do for the overall quality of your home. Of course not everything is perfect or can be used 100% of the time but the possibilities are endless with this miracle foam.

Advantages

The first thought that comes to mind when I hear about spray foam insulation is in attics or crawl spaces in homes. While it is true, the most common use is for overall home insulation, there are a lot of other uses.  You can use spray foam insulation to wrap water pipes that are old. What a great way to extend past their useful life and help patch up problem leaks.

Did you know that there are draft leaks that can be detected through your electrical outlets? Spray foam insulation can help with that, too! You can also use spray foam insulation on heating vents and other places of leakage throughout the house and immediately see a reduction in your heating bill.

Now, these are just a small amount of uses but, like I have said before, the possibilities are endless with spray foam insulation.  Spray foam insulation keeps rodents away.  What about those nasty odors that are emitted from insulation that have been around for years? Spray foam insulation has an odor killing ingredient that is non-toxic.

Downfalls

There are two major downfalls with spray foam insulation but they can be quickly discounted. Upon initial research you might think you need to be a professional to spray the foam. Simply put, small jobs you could easily do yourself.  When you have a bigger job, like a full attic to do, you should probably look to a professional. With professional experience and equipment, the job will be done correctly.

Another downfall that is heard quite often is the cost may be a little off-putting. Take heed though that in the end the product outlasts, is of better quality, and is much more efficient than its counterparts on the market.

Spray foam insulation is a great tool to have in your belt if you need quick and efficient fixes. Besides, what other tool do you have in your possession that could be used for inside and outside, small and large, dirty and clean home improvement projects?
